McLaren has always challenged beliefs and done things differently. We started racing over 50 years ago and ever since we have been pushing the boundaries of possibility. Good is never good enough, we know the best can always be better. It is a philosophy that has driven us to success in racing, but also in our quest to build the world’s most advanced high-performance supercars. Now this same unique way of thinking has created the revolutionary
McLaren Sports Series. The 570GT is among the first sports cars to be built from supercar DNA, and the first to offer the excitement only a McLaren can deliver.

Bruce McLaren – A Brilliant Legacy

Bruce McLaren was a great driver and a great engineer. His competitive instinct drove him to win, his love of innovation turned him into a pioneering race car designer. At just 22, he became the youngest winner of a Formula 1™ World Championship race but, convinced he could build a better car than the one he was driving, he formed his own McLaren team three years later. Bruce died too young, but his legacy lives in our ethos. As he said
in his autobiography: ‘It would be a waste of life to do nothing with one’s ability, for I feel that life is measured in achievement, not in years alone.

McLaren was born on the track and has become one of the most successful racing teams of all time. As well as winning an incredible 12 Formula 1™ Drivers’ Championships, we are the only manufacturer to have claimed the unofficial Triple Crown of Motorsport, with victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Monaco Grand Prix, and the Indianapolis 500.

Every performance enthusiast wants the chance to let their engine roar. We understand. That’s why we host “Dimmitt’s Day at Sebring,” a racing event for owners of performance vehicles to unleash the raw power of their vehicles.
mclaren-p1-tampa-dimmitt-sebring-track-day

Sponsored by McLaren of Tampa Bay, a division of Dimmitt Automotive Group, performance enthusiasts were invited from across Florida to meet up at the Sebring International Raceway. Owners of makes like Porsche, Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren, and Cadillac arrived at the track and prepared for the rare opportunity to really push their vehicles. They weren’t disappointed.

Starting at 8am, drivers enjoyed a light continental breakfast and a demonstration of track rules for those new to the environment. They had a chance to socialize with other enthusiasts and compare notes. Then, the real fun started.

Split into three groups based on driving skill and previous experience, each group drove in half-hour rotations, enjoying 5 rotations each. Performance engines sang as the cars flew past the onlookers.

It’s not often that owners of these high-end vehicles get the chance to see and feel what their engines can do. Tracey Ringstaff, who organized the event, put it this way: “Our clients deserve events that enhance the experience of vehicle ownership. That’s why we continually seek to arrange days like this one.”

Keep an eye out for our next Track Day event, and experience the rush as you let your own vehicle loose on the track. There’s nothing like it.

McLaren 570S

When McLaren introduced the 570S at the New York International Auto Show in 2015, it was with the intention of tripling consumer sales within 5 years. This, after all, is a McLaren sports car that is more modestly priced. It was configured so even the most discriminating owner could feel comfortable driving this impressive automobile daily. While the brand has always been focused on power and performance, the 570S adds just a dash more practicality in its design with increased luggage space and interior storage. This provides what McLaren calls more “day-to-day usability and drivability”. The 570S, however, should not be confused as the family driver. The 570S is a world-class, two-seat sports car with McLaren racing DNA through and through. It features dramatic aerodynamic styling, the McLaren trademark dihedral doors, and a teardrop cockpit.

Power and Performance

The rear-mid engine configuration of the includes the throaty, 570S M838T E 3.8-liter, twin-turbocharged, V8 engine. Paired with its 7 speed, dual clutch transmission, the 570S generates 563 hp and 443 ft-lb of torque. This combination propels the 570S from 0-62 in a spry 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 204 mph. All of this power is kept under control with a sophisticated suspension and carbon ceramic brakes. This McLaren owes much of its speed to the automaker’s almost obsessive focus on weight minimization including the use of the Carbon Monocell II chassis. The 570S has a dry weight of just 2989 lbs, allowing it to average about 21.2 mpg.

Introducing the 2019 McLaren Senna

Aryton Senna’s lengthy and distinguished racing career was highlighted with three Formula One Championships for McLaren in 1988, 1990 and 1991. Regarded as one of the greatest Formula One drivers of all-time he was also frequently recognized by his peers as one of the most influential. Even after his life ended while leading the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994, Senna’s legend has continued to grow. Now, with the introduction of the 2019 McLaren Senna, his competitive spirit lives on.

mclaren-senna-tampa-dimmitt-front-quarter

The 2019 Senna is the start of a new generation of McLaren hypercars dedicated to pushing the limits and designed in recognition of the racing legend. This is a motorcar that has resulted from exceptional competence, fierce dedication, and simple and persistent hard work. It is an automobile that like championships, is hard-earned.

mclaren-senna-tampa-dimmitt-rear

The 2019 Senna, at just 2,850 lbs. is McLaren’s lightest production car since the F1. At its core is the remarkably strong but low weight Monocage III chassis. A carbon fiber shell over the Monocage seems to have been designed by the wind itself. It carefully and artfully moves the air over, around and even through its aerodynamic body.

mclaren-senna-tampa-dimmitt-front-quarter-doors-up

McLaren’s obsession with weight management and precision engines produce unparalleled power and performance. The Senna’s 4.0 liter, V-8 engine generates 789 horsepower, 79 more than the impressive 720S. With a top speed of 215 mph, the 2019 McLaren Senna can slingshot from a standstill to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds.

mclaren-senna-tampa-dimmitt-front

Its lightweight design and muscular power plant make downforce a priority and the engineer’s at McLaren have responded. When placed in “Race Mode” the front axle lowers by 1.5 inches and the rear by 1.2 inches. The 2019 Senna’s wings are adjusted hydraulically, continuously increasing downforce and adjusting drag. It can even be used as an air brake when firmly stopping. Twin airfoils under the headlights work in harmony with the wing to maintain optimum axle balance. Larger, wider rear wheels and tires add to the almost menacing appearance. Drivers may need to be reminded that yes, the 2019 McLaren Senna is street legal.

mclaren-senna-tampa-dimmitt-wheel

Inside, the traditional instrument cluster tucks away in Race Mode revealing a secondary cluster to improve vision and to minimize distraction. Other than this unique feature, the interior of the Senna is all business, like Aryton himself. Racing inspired controls are straightforward and no-nonsense. Those in search of opulence will have to look elsewhere. This is a hypercar on a mission. It is built to perform.

Boundless Exhilaration

Limited in production, McLaren’s Super Series 675LT Spider brings boundless energy to only the second McLaren to ever wear the LT badge. The world demanded it and McLaren delivered it in 2016 with the fastest open-top McLaren in history. The McLaren 675LT Spider’s retractable folding hardtop opens up a new world of possibilities and thrills for the select few fortunate enough to secure one.

When Less is More

When it comes to minimizing weight, less is more with the McLaren 675 LT Spider, starting with the minimal mass chassis using McLaren’s light carbon MonoCell construction. Every piece, every part is optimized for efficiency and every curve has a purpose. Even with tractable roof system, the total weight of this convertible is a mere 88 lbs. heavier than the Coupe, yet 220 lbs. lighter than the 650S. Downforce has been increased by 40%, bonding driver and car to the road for an unparalleled driving experience. This is a road-hugging, thrilling ride, enhanced by the open cockpit.

Indulgent Power and Performance

At the heart of the McLaren 675LT Spider, is an upgraded 3.8-liter twin turbo V8 engine that is deserving of the LT “Longtail” name. The engine is capable of producing 666 hp with 516 lb-ft of torque. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a dual-clutch, seven-speed Graziano gearbox.

When motivated, the 675LT Spider will accelerate from 0-62 mph in a blistering 2.9 seconds, equal to the Coupe. Launching from zero to 124 mph can be accomplished in a mere 8.1 seconds. Not for the timid, the Spider has a top speed of 203 mph. More efficient turbochargers, re-engineered cylinder heads and exhaust manifolds, a fuel pump that is faster-flowing and a new camshaft with lightweight connecting rods all contribute to the phenomenal performance of this sought-after supercar.

Soar with Advanced Aerodynamics

Not only has every ounce of the 675LT Spider been optimized but each aspect of its aerodynamics have been engineered for enhanced performance. Like its Coupe sibling, the Spider has a prominent front bumper. This bumper, along with a magnified splitter and end plates, increase downforce at the front end. The rear of the Spider is kept firmly planted with a ‘Longtail’ Airbrake, about 50% larger than that of the 650S. Crafted from carbon fiber, it has aggressive side intakes, side skirts, a front underbody, and the rear bumper and diffuser which all contribute to the advanced wind management aspects of the 675LT Spider. Lightweight carbon brakes and the P Zero™ Trofeo R tires help keep the 675 LT Spider under control whether it is in normal, sport or track driving mode.

Inside, little comforts like a suede-covered steering wheel and race-inspired seating set the tone. A straight-forward, almost analog style dashboard puts required data front and center to the driver with an infotainment screen in the center of the cockpit. The 675LT Spider is a superb blend of performance, power, and aerodynamic styling combined with a heavy dose of rarity that makes this McLaren so desirable.

In just a few short years, the 12C Spider has left an indelible mark on the hearts of McLaren fans and aficionados of supercars and sports cars everywhere. Its legendary status was built through exceptional and innovative design, power, and impressive performance.mclaren-12C-spider-red-tampa-side-quarter-dimmitt

The Sky is the Limit

The convertible edition of the original MP4-12C, the 12C Spider features a retractable hardtop and top speeds that rival those of the coupe. Weighing just 88 lbs more than its hardtop cousin, the Spider’s top speed of 204 mph comes tantalizingly close to the 207 mph top end of the coupe. Even with the top down, the 12C Spider reaches a pulse-accelerating 196 mph.

The 12C Spider is powered by the racing inspired McLaren M838T 3.8-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 592 bhp and 443 lb⋅ft of torque. After some minor changes to the engine in 2012, later models produce 616 bhp. The engine redlines at 8,500 rpm and makes 80% of its torque available at only 2,000 rpm.

The McLaren 12C Spider’s power plant is connected to a “Seamless Shift Gearbox”, a seven-speed automatic dual clutch transmission. The gearbox’s “pre-cog’ feature permits the driver to preselect the next gear by tapping the paddle lightly.

A Convertible with Racing DNA

Those who appreciate McLaren’s racing DNA appreciate the 12C Spider’s chassis that begins with the F1 inspired Carbon Monocell. This one-piece carbon fibre tub weighs a total of just 176 lbs. The driving cockpit features a more traditional side-by-side configuration than its McLaren F1 predecessor.

While the roof is retractable, the dihedral doors of the coupe remain in the 12C Spider. Deep, sweeping side panels scoop and dismiss the air while cooling its mid-engine power plant. Its low profile, wider, curved hips and a muscular stance complete the impressive, muscular appearance of this automobile that has carved out its niche is sports car history.
